We can always use a lift, so how about this one...

The Orange

Wendy Cope

At lunchtime I bought a huge orange-
The size of it made us all laugh.
I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave-
They got quarters and I had a half.

And that orange, it made me so happy.
As ordinary things often do
Just lately. The shopping. a walk in the park.
This is peace and contentment. It's new.

The rest of the day was quite easy.
I did all the jobs on my list
And I enjoyed them and had some time over.
I love you. I'm glad I exist.

Bethany,
I just looked at those gorgeous photos of the pumpkin patch. Can you believe that our girls were ever that little? Ack. Make the time slow down. Do you want to make the 13th an all girl day at the patch? Maybe stop somewhere for a lovely little lunch?

What a great piece of writing! Days like that are decidedly too few!
